Coventry Alliance League Division 3
Bourton and Frankton 3 Harbury FC 5
Two goals from Danny McManus and a single from Tim Sutcliffe were not quite enough to earn Bourton and Frankton their first win of the season after a 5-3 home reversal to newly-promoted Harbury FC.
Instead it was the visitor’s Claudio Silva who took the limelight by bagging four of his side’s tally as they claimed the points at The Field.
Conditions may have been wet on a glorious-looking Bourton pitch but both sides contributed to a good entertaining game with Harbury edging possession and Bourton still clearly trying to settle into our new system and style of play. Yet they thought they had the perfect start by finding the visitor’s net early on only to be denied by a dubious offside flag, only for the visitor’s to then go down the other end and take the lead themselves.
McManus grabbed his first to draw Bourton level but Harbury hit back before the break to go in front once again at 2-1 which soon began 3-1 just after the restart. A fourth midway through the second half effectively sealed the points and contest, and although McManus added his and Bourton’s second to make it 4-2, Harbury added a fifth through Ross Quartermaine.
The hosts did have the last word with Tim Sutcliffe adding Bourton’s third late on but Harbury had already done enough to close out the victory.
