Crick Athletic Reserves 1 Bourton and Frankton 1
An 85th minute penalty from Nick Manning ensured Bourton and Frankton came away from their visit to Crick with a deserved point following their 1-1 draw.
The late leveller was at least what the visitors deserved having been the better of the two sides particularly in the second period where their build-up play was missing the crucial edge in front of goal.
The first half was an evenly fought contest which saw Crick go ahead on 11 minutes with Josh Goodwin finding the net. After that early setback, Bourton settled and more than matched the hosts without carving out any real chances with the breeze at their back.
Both sides continue to go toe-to-toe in the second half and it was Bourton who looked the more likely to score as their neat build-up play created a series of clear cut openings to not only level but also go in front.
With several chances going astray, it looked like it wasn’t going to be the visitor’s day and they had a scare on 78 minutes when Crick nearly made it 2-0 with a drive which cannoned off the crossbar.
Yet with seven minutes left Bourton’s persistence was rewarded. Another breakaway on goal saw Tim Sutcliffe upended in the penalty area from which Manning sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot kick to earn a share of the points.
