Willoughby 201 for 7

Bourton and Frankton 110 all out

Willoughby won by 91 runs.

Sunday’s renewal  between Bourton and Willoughby was sadly not befitting of previous meetings stretching back many years as the visitors took the honours at The Field.

Played in exceptionally warm conditions, the visitors batted either side of England’s Euros football game and made 201 for 7 off their 40 overs. Alex Hislop made 45 with Ashley Rayner benefitting from some of his side’s generous umpiring to top score with 74 not out.  For the Bourton attack, the wickets were shared amongst the bowlers with Mark Whitehead’s 2 for 25 the leading effort.

Whitehead also led the way with the bat for Bourton making 32 but the loss of early wickets severely dented their run chase.  Backed by some rather unnecessary on-field chat about the playing conditions and opposition, the visitors took wickets at regular intervals to kill the game. Youngster Aiden Porter one of few to emerge with some credit playing the game the right way and taking three wickets late on as Bourton were bowled out for 110.
